Twelve irregular migration attempts have been foiled by the coast guards of the coastal regions in the country over the last two days, the General Directorate of the National Guard said on Saturday. About 40 Tunisian migrants were rescued during these operations launched as part of the fight against illegal crossing of sea borders. The National Guard units of Enfidha-Msaken, under the District of Sousse, and those of Nabeul arrested on October 12-13 two smugglers, seized an engine as well as four inflatable boats and a sum of money in Tunisian dinars and foreign currencies. During the same period, the coast guards under the Center District four other attempts at irregular migration and rescued six Tunisians. The body of a migrant was also recovered, the same source said. The Units of the National Guard of Sfax arrested 11 individuals wanted for having organized illegal migration operations. They also seized six boats and two vehicles used to carry irregular migrants.
