Nearly 16 ha of forest have been destroyed by the fire that broke out on Monday in Mount Ennahli in the governorate of Ariana, according to initial estimates.
Civil Protection spokesperson Colonel Moez Triaa said that the exact area affected by the flames will be determined later by the technical services of the General Directorate of Forests.
He told TAP that the firefighters had fully controlled the fire and were still mobilised to deal with the possibility of the fire reigniting due to strong winds.
An investigation has been launched to determine the causes of the fire, which are still unknown.
Several fires have broken out in recent years at Ennahli Park, particularly in 2014 when they destroyed 40 ha, in June 2016, in August 2017 and in July 2020.
