The period of pre-trial detention of Béchir Akremi, a dismissed judge and former public prosecutor at the Tunis Court of First Instance, has been extended by four months, announced lawyer Hammadi ZaSfrani, a member of Akremi’s defence committee.
Contacted on Wednesday by TAP, ZaSfrani said Bechir Akremi had been summoned on Wednesday by the examining magistrate at the judicial counter-terrorism division to inform him of the decision to extend his pre-trial detention. Béchir Akremi is the subject of an investigation into the murder of Chokri Belaïd.
In this context, the lawyer pointed out that his client, who has been detained since March 10, 2023 in connection with this case, has appealed against the decision.
