The bill criminalising normalisation with the Zionist entity stipulates in Article 3 penalties from 2 to 5 years in prison and fines between TND 10 thousand and TND 100 thousand. Article 3 of the bill, which was recently submitted to the parliamentary Committee on Rights and Freedoms, stipulates that any attempt to normalise relations with the Zionist entity is punishable by the aforementioned penalties. The National Sovereign Line parliamentary bloc tabled a bill in June 2023 criminalising normalisation with the Zionist entity. A hearing session was held on October 11 by the Human Rights Committee with the initiator of the bill. 97 MPs called on October 10 the ARP Bureau to speed up consideration of the bill criminalising normalisation with the Zionist entity. They filed a request to this end with the parliament’s central registry office.
