Eastern Cape SAPS forces address gender-based violence at schools around Amathole District

IDUTYWA – In an effort to eradicate gender-based violence and femicide in different communities, SAPS foot soldiers are embarking on multi-dimensional intervention in different areas around Idutywa Policing precinct in Amathole District.

A number of schools were visited this morning aiming at fulfilling the mandate of the South African Police Service of ensuring safer schools in every environment.

Women’s Network, Men for Change and Junior Management worked collectively in addressing different issues relating to criminality, including, among others, gender-based violence, substance abuse and bullying. As part of ensuring moral regeneration at an early age, a team from SAPS Spiritual Services formed part of the initiative.

The multi-disciplinary team believes that positive nurturing of children, especially learners, is an effective mechanism to shape the entire society.

Management of respective schools appreciated the effort made by the South African Police Service in ensuring safety at schools, and indicated the significance of integrated efforts in maintaining positive learning environment.

The activities are expected to continue until Saturday, 25 September 2021.
