Employment and Labour embarks on service delivery drive in Sarah Baartman District, 21 to 25 Nov

The Department of Employment and Labour in the Eastern Cape will in the following week from 21 – 25 November 2022 host service delivery campaigns in the small towns of Beyers Naude Local Municipality with the aim to bring a basket of services of Department at the doorstep of communities.

The campaign mainly focuses on remote areas where community members are unable to commute to Labour Centres so that they are assisted with their claims and enquiries on the spot.

The Department plays a significant role in reducing unemployment, poverty and inequality through a set of policies and programmes developed in consultation with social partners, which are aimed at: improved economic efficiency and productivity; employment creation; sound labour relations; eliminating inequality and discrimination in the workplace; and alleviating poverty in employment. These campaigns therefore assist the Department in expediting that mandate.

Services that will be provided are as follows: UIF claim and enquiries, UIF payments, registration of employers and UIF new applications for all benefits, claims and inquiries for Occupational Injuries and Diseases, registration of work seekers, enquiries on labour legislation and National Minimum Wage and advocacy session to employers.

Members of the public that wish to be assisted on the above-mentioned services are encouraged to bring along the following documents:

  • Identity document (i.e. is for all UIF related enquiries)
  • Confirmation of bank account
  • UI 2.8 for new applications
  • Copy of payslip

Other Governments departments who will be joining the Department at the Major Campaign bringing service on the spot are Office of the Premier, SASSA, Department of Home Affairs, CCMA, TEBA,  NYDA and Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.
