The reality and prospects of the existing historical cooperation relations between Tunisia and the Republic of Mali and ways to ensure their further development, particularly in the fields of economic and trade cooperation, higher education, health and vocational training, were discussed during the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, and Minister of Malians Abroad and African Integration, Moussa AG Al-Taher, on Friday in Tunis.
The two ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Sahel-Sahara region and ways of dealing with the phenomenon of irregular migration, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nabil Ammar expressed his sincere gratitude to the Malian authorities for their willingness to cooperate and coordinate with the Tunisian side in order to find solutions for the return of irregular migrants under the best conditions, while ensuring adequate accommodation for Malians legally residing in Tunisia.
The programme of the Malian minister’s working visit to Tunisia on September 7 and 8 included two meetings with the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as a visit to a vocational training centre, according to the statement.
