Ways to strengthen cooperation between the Arab Parliament and Tunisia, especially after the inauguration of the new Assembly of People’s Representatives, was the focus of a meeting between Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Assoumi, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, in Cairo on Wednesday.
The minister praised the efforts of the Arab Parliament in defending the causes of Arab countries in regional and international legislative institutions, and in providing visions and approaches to face common challenges.
For his part, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament expressed his appreciation for the reform efforts in Tunisia. He praised Tunisia’s clear and firm positions on values and principles and expressed his permanent support for Tunisia based on his appreciation and respect for the Tunisian people and the President of the Republic.
Al-Assoumi welcomed the Foreign Minister’s proposals to strengthen cooperation with the Arab Parliament and activate this institution’s role in promoting economic cooperation between Arab countries and building bridges between economic actors. They also discussed appropriate mechanisms to enhance cooperation relations in various fields, according to the same statement.
The meeting took place within the framework of the Foreign Minister’s participation in the 160th ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
