House robbers remanded in custody

DURBAN:  On 30 October 2022, the Cato Manor Task Team police responded to a report of a house robbery that occurred on Palace Place in Bonela.

It is alleged that a group of armed men arrived in a vehicle, stormed the house and forced the kitchen door open. They held the occupants at gunpoint and stole two TV’s, cellphones, microwave and other items which they loaded into the complainant’s bakkie. The team swiftly responded and the bakkie was found abandoned on Khwebezane Road in Lamontville.

A short while later, the vehicle that was used in the commission of crime arrived at the same area and the suspects were intercepted. They were found in possession of the victim’s two cellphones. Police also seized various bank cards from the suspects. Two suspects aged 18 and 26 were arrested and charged with house robbery. They appeared before the Durban Magistrates’ Court on 2 November 2022. They were remanded in custody until 10 November 2022.
