House robbery and murder suspects sought

NELSPRUIT � Police in Mpumalanga are looking for suspects involved in house robbery and murder incidents which occurred yesterday, 12 March 2019 and early this morning, at Pilgrim’s Rest and Barberton, respectively.

In the first incident, it is reported that three unknown men, covered in blankets, forcefully entered a house at Pilgrim’s Rest. The victim allegedly confronted the suspects and a struggle ensued, leading to him being fatally shot, after the incident, the suspects ransacked the house, taking some items and money before fleeing the scene.

In the second incident, a police report revealed that a group of suspects entered a house at Verulam Sinqobile Village near Barberton and found six occupants watching TV. They then demanded money and started firing shots resulting in three of the occupants aged between 30 and 35, being fatally wounded while two sustained serious injuries and one left unharmed. The suspects then robbed one victim of an undisclosed amount of money and fled thereafter. The injured victims were rushed to hospital and the others declared dead at the scene.

Police have opened murder and house robbery cases and are asking anyone with information that may assist in tracing the suspects. With regards to the Pilgrim’s Rest case, the community can contact Warrant Officer Floris Kruger on 082 448 9621 and regarding the Barberton case, Captain Jabulani Mashiane, on 082 303 9704 or SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

The police in Mpumalanga, condemned in the strongest possible terms these awful acts. They reassured the community that the police will work tirelessly to make sure that the suspects are found.
