Over the period from January 1 to May 20, 2023, the number of visitors staying at hotels in the governorate of Mahdia exceeded 32,000, an improvement of 0.6% compared with the same period last season.
Over the same period, the occupancy rate reached 17.4% (more than 118 thousand nights), an increase of around 24.1%, while the accommodation rate was 3.7 nights, a jump of around 47.8%.
Local Tunisians accounted for the largest share of overnight stays, with 25.5% of the total number of guests, followed by Germans, with around 24.5%, and the French, who accounted for 16.9%.
The governorate of Mahdia has 29 hotel units employing almost 4,000 people, in a sector considered to be a pillar of economic life in the region.
