Ministry of Youth and Sports wins UN Group Prize for NCDs Prevention in 2023

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has been selected to receive the United Nations Group Prize for the Prevention and Management of Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases for the year 2023. The Ministry specifies that this award was conferred during a meeting dedicated to NCD prevention, held in New York, in the margins of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly. It recognises the national efforts undertaken in collaboration with local and international entities engaged in combating NCDs through sports and digitisation. The Ministry has been bestowed with this accolade in recognition of its alignment with global endeavours aimed at achieving the “good health and well-being” objective, one of the 17 goals established by the United Nations for sustainable development. This recognition stems from the implementation of a strategy grounded in sporting activities as an effective means of combating NCDs and safeguarding community health in accordance with public health requirements. During a virtual conference, Minister of Youth and Sports Kamel Déguiche affirmed that the Tunisian government is resolutely committed to advancing towards the goals outlined within the framework of the national strategy for preserving community health.
