Work has been completed on equipping the bone marrow transplant unit at the Monastir Maternity and Neonatology Centre at the Fatouma Bourguiba University Hospital in Monastir with funds worth around 2 million euros, Monastir Regional Health Director Jawher Mokni said on Monday.
The unit has six rooms, including two intensive care rooms, and is equipped with an air treatment system, Mokni said, noting that the first bone marrow transplant should be carried out there at the beginning of October.
This is part of the national strategy to promote organ transfer and transplant operations and is a major regional and national achievement, the same source told TAP.
