Cooperation programmes between the Social Affairs Ministry and UNICEF in the social field, including social protection and allowances for children, were the focus of a meeting between Social Affairs Minister Malek Ezzahi and UNICEF representative in Tunisia Michel Le Pechoux. The meeting shed light on ways to foster cooperation by implementing a reform project of family allowances in the public and private sectors. The Project of the Second Chance School and its importance in reintegrating school dropouts was also discussed during the meeting. Ezzahi stressed the need to boost cooperation in the field of promoting education for persons with disabilities. The minister laid emphasis on financial transfer programmes dedicated to children, particularly those coming from low-income families and registered with the AMEN social programme. He also welcomed the role of UNICEF and its constant support to the ministry’s social programmes. UNICEF will continue its support to Tunisia in the field of childcare, Le Pechoux said, adding that his organisation will increase joint projects across the country.
