A delegation led by the Director General of the Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) Mr. Mahmoud Macallim Abdulle arrived today in Baydhabo, the interim capital of the South West State, to participate in a conference on humanitarian affairs.
The conference, which was organized by SoDMA, will discuss the humanitarian situation in the country and the challenges faced by the people affected by drought, floods, conflict, and displacement. The conference will also seek to mobilize resources and coordinate efforts among the federal and state governments, the Banaadir Region, and the international community.
The delegation of the Director General was welcomed at the Shati Gaduud Airport by Ministers, MPs, the Administration of Bay Region, the District Administration of Baydhabo and various sections of the society. Mr. Abdulle expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and said that he was looking forward to engaging with the stakeholders and partners in addressing the humanitarian needs of the Somali people.
The conference is expected to open in Baydhabo in the coming days and will be attended by Ministers of Humanitarian Affairs from the Federal Member States, representatives from the International Community, and civil society organizations.
