Suspect arrested for housebreaking at business premises in North End

Property related crimes is one of Mount Road station big concerns and the Acting Station Commander, Colonel Kumla commented the members for the arrest of one suspect during a house breaking at a business premises in North End.

The arrest was made after members responded to a complaint on Saturday afternoon, 05 May 2018 at around 18:00, of a housebreaking at a meat market shop in Govan Mbeki Ave, North End. Upon arrival, the business was searched by no one was found to be in the store, the members continue the search in a court yard of the premises and found a 23-year-old suspect hiding out. The members recovered the meat to the value of R9000-00. The owner of the business then identified the suspect as one of his employees, he forced a toilet window open and removed the burglar bars to gain entrance to the premises.

The detectives will also investigate whether the suspect could be linked to other cases in the area. The suspect will be charge with housebreaking and will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate court on Tuesday, 08 May 2018.
