Suspects busted with Khat

Uitenhage: By participating in efforts to address the root causes of crime, alert members from SAPS Uitenhage followed their instincts, when they noticed this morning, 28 September 2018, how a person off-loaded suspicious looking bags. Members on patrol stopped next to the vehicle and questioned two males in Caledon Street, Uitenhage at about 09:30. Members searched their vehicle and discovered 100 bundles of khat with a street value of R5000 in the boot of their vehicle. Both suspects (35 and 39) were arrested on a charge of illegal possession of drugs. They are due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 1 October 2018.
Members also confiscated their vehicle, a Ford.
The abuse of illegal substances is one of the root causes of violent crime and the members from SAPS Uitenhage are lauded for their efforts to take drugs off the streets.
