Suspects to appear in court on firearm related charges and business robbery

CAPE TOWN – This morning at about 00:10 members attached to Delft Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 33-year-old male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at N2 Gateway. The members were busy with crime prevention duties in an effort to curb ongoing shooting and gang violence in the area when they received information about a male reportedly in possession of a firearm. The suspect fitting the description was apprehended and found in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition.

The suspect is due to appear in the Bellville Magistrates court on Tuesday, 28 June 2022.

In an unrelated matter, four suspects between the ages of 24 and 32 were arrested by Saldanha Bay police on a charge of business robbery. They are accused of an armed robbery committed at a supermarket in Viool Street, Diazville, Saldanha Bay on Saturday afternoon at about 17:50 where an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellphone were taken. The stolen items as well as two 9mm pistols were recovered.

Once charged the suspects will appear in the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court.
