Tunisia, US discuss scaled-up relations

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar met Tuesday with United States Ambassador to Tunisia Joey R. Hood who was accompanied by U.S. Special Envoy to Libya Ambassador Richard Norland.

The talk turned on the long-standing and strong relations and ways to boost and further diversify them in different fields.

Coordination of the two countries’ stances on regional and international issues of common interest also took centre stage, said the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Ammar recalled Tunisia’s principled position on the Libyan political process and the need for an inter-Libyan solution spearheaded by Libyans, as part of an inclusive national dialogue sponsored by the United Nations.

The U.S. officials commended Tunisia’s constructive role in the Libyan political process and reminded of the various meetings held in Tunis to foster the inter-Libyan dialogue.
