Two nabbed for possession of unlicensed firearm

NORTHERN CAPE – Two suspects aged 32 and 42 were arrested by Calvinia K9 and Vispol members yesterday afternoon.

The members were conducting routine stop and search operation when they spotted a suspicious Toyota Conquest. The vehicle was searched a .38 Special Rossi revolver was found hidden in the driver’s door panel. One ammunition of 357 Magnum and five of 9mm pistol were also found.

The Provincial Commander of Police Emergency Services, Colonel Njilo has applauded members for retrieving the firearm. He pointed out that the interception of the firearm has curbed possible commission of murder or robbery cases.

The duo appeared before the Calvinia Magistrates court today and were remanded in custody.
