{"id":42089,"date":"2021-09-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dailysouthafrica.com\/?guid=4b08905fe380fc80aec9a92d768cb626"},"modified":"2021-09-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-09-20T00:00:00","slug":"new-covid-19-infections-on-a-downward-trend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailysouthafrica.com\/new-covid-19-infections-on-a-downward-trend\/","title":{"rendered":"New COVID-19 infections on a downward trend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says the country is experiencing a sustained downward trend in new COVID-19 infections.<\/P><P><\/P><P>On Sunday, the country recorded 2 281 new laboratory confirmed cases, with 58 new COVID-19 related deaths.<\/P><P><\/P><P>There were 79 new hospitalisations as a result of the disease.<\/P><P><\/P><P>\u201cThe total number of cases\u2026 is lower than yesterday and lower than the average number of new cases per day over the seven preceding days. The seven-day moving average daily number of cases has decreased,\u201d the NICD said.<\/P><P><\/P><P>The institute said the new cases represent a positivity rate of 7.4%.<\/P><P><\/P><P>\u201cThe majority of new cases\u2026 are from KwaZulu-Natal (518), followed by Western Cape (390).
