{"id":42660,"date":"2021-10-14T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-14T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dailysouthafrica.com\/?guid=026bc804ec3416f9772a070931df6ac3"},"modified":"2021-10-14T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T00:00:00","slug":"dbe-set-to-launch-national-schools-hygiene-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailysouthafrica.com\/dbe-set-to-launch-national-schools-hygiene-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"DBE set to launch National Schools Hygiene Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>The Department of Basic Education (DBE) will tomorrow launch the National Schools Hygiene Programme (NSHP) and kick-start the extended Hand Hygiene Programme at Zimasa Primary School in Langa, Cape Town.<\/P><P><\/P><P>The department\u2019s implementation of the National School Hygiene Programme is an initiative supported by Unilever through its brands Lifebuoy, Mentadent P and Domestos.<\/P><P><\/P><P>\u201cThis programme involves a 21-day behaviour change intervention in class regarding the washing of hands with soap, brushing of teeth with a toothbrush and toothpaste, and proper cleaning of school toilets,\u201d the department said in a statement.<\/P><P><\/P><P>The Deputy Director-General of Care and Support in Schools, Dr Granville Whittle, will deliver the keynote address at the launch.<\/P><P><\/P><P>Global Handwashing Day is globally celebrated on October 15 each year.
