Tunis: Coast guards in Monastir rescued 14 fishermen whose boat caught fire 33 nautical miles from the Port of Monastir, according to a statement issued, Saturday night, by the General Directorate of the National Guard. The same source said, on Friday, that the maritime watchtower in Sousse received a distress call regarding a fire which broke out in a fishing boat with 14 fishermen on board. The incident took place 33 nautical miles from the Port of Monastir (in international waters). Two floating naval units from the Monastir Naval Region were dispatched to rescue the fishermen and extinguish the fire. The whole crew was evacuated and taken back to the fishing Port of Teboulba. A tugboat was used to tow the stricken vessel to the port. An investigation was launched after consulting with the Public Prosector of Monastir. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
