Hamas forces in Gaza fired a barrage of rockets toward Tel Aviv on Monday, injuring two people, on the first anniversary of its assault on southern Israeli communities that triggered the ongoing war. The Israeli military said in a statement that five rockets were launched from Khan Younis in southern Gaza, setting off sirens across central Israel. Two people were lightly injured in Kfar Chabad, a town southeast of Tel Aviv, Eli Bin, director-general of Israel's Magen David Adom rescue service, told reporters. Photos and videos on social media showed damage to a house and cars. A cloud of black smoke was seen rising in an open field near residential buildings in Holon, a suburb south of Tel Aviv. The Izz el-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing, claimed responsibility for the attack. In a statement, the group said it fired Maqadma M90 rockets at Tel Aviv "as part of the ongoing battle of attrition and in response to Zionist massacres against civilians and the deliberate displacement of our people."
