The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) plans to open a regional center in Tunis, said its president, Benedict Oramah, during a meeting held Tuesday, July 2, in Tunis, with Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) Fethi Zouhair Nouri. «This opening will mark a new era of cooperation with Tunisia,» said the official, stressing the strategic importance of this initiative to consolidate ties with the country, the BCT said, Wednesday, in a statement. The head of the African bank underscored that the discussions highlighted a common vision for the future, with a particular emphasis on the energy transition and the preservation of the human capital of African countries. He spoke of a common will to boost bilateral relations and develop strategic partnerships, adding that "relations with Tunisia are in a positive dynamic of cooperation which will be enhanced." The Governor of the BCT stressed the importance of supporting African talents through initiatives facilitating their integration into the econom ic development of their countries of origin. Benedict Oramah indicated that Afreximbank is currently collaborating with international partners to develop a specific programme destined to the African diaspora. Regarding innovative funding means for key development projects in the sectors of energy transition and Tunisia's greening economy, the BCT Governor gave an overview about the opportunities and challenges facing these areas, emphasizing the need for substantial support from Afreximbank to achieve Tunisia's ambitions in terms of sustainability and green growth. «We will need all our partners to support Tunisia's ambition to work on lasting solutions,» he mentioned.
