Tunis: Member of the National Council of Regions and Districts Ahmed Gara Ali, on Monday, was elected Chairman of the Rules of Procedure Committee, tasked with drafting the rules of procedure of the second legislative chamber. Ahmed Gara Ali (governorate of Nabeul) was elected in the first round after vying with one other MP in the 19-member committee, Council member Hamdi Omrane told TAP. The composition of the committee was announced on April 19, at the end of the inaugural session of the council. Omar Jaidi (Zaghouan) was elected vice president of the committee and Samia Souissi (Sidi Bouzid) as rapporteur. The committee is expected to hold its first meeting on Tuesday, the same source specified. The National Council of Regions and Districts comprises 77 members: Three members representing each regional council from every governorate in the country (24 governorates) and one member for each district (5 districts).
