Tunis: An awareness-raising campaign will be organised in Jendouba and Kairouan governorates with the aim of improving the working and living conditions of rural women and their employers in Tunisia. The campaign is organised as part of the Joint Programme: Accelerating Progress Towards Rural Women's Economic Empowerment (JP RWEE), in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and UN Women. The campaign aims to promote the economic empowerment of rural women and their employers through a set of initiatives using various media outlets. With the aim of ensuring greater interaction with the recipients, a workshop will be held on July 1 at the GDA El Baraka Tbainia in Ain Drahem (Jendouba) to inform rural women about their rights to work and the available opportunities, to raise awareness among rural employers of the importance of offering decent and fair working conditions, and to promote gender equal ity in rural areas by encouraging inclusive working practices. This workshop will bring together some 30 women working in agriculture, together with their employers and representatives of the Women Agricultural Development Grouping (French: GFDA) and Agricultural Development Grouping (French: GDA). The workshop will include interactive sessions and practical exercises where participants will share their experiences, discuss the challenges facing them on a daily basis and propose innovative solutions to improve their working conditions. Employers will be made particularly aware of the importance of creating a respectful and fair working working environment, highlighting the economic and social benefits of decent work.
