Beja: ‘Tamissa’ primary school in Amdoun included in digital education programme

Beja: The Tamissa rural primary school in Amdoun, Beja governorate, received a batch of digital equipment on Tuesday as part of the digital education programme implemented under an agreement between the Orange-Tunisia Foundation and the Ministry of Education. The digital equipment consists of 25 digital tablets, a control panel, a laptop, a server and a screen. This equipment will benefit both students and teachers at the school. The aim of the programme is to provide public schools, especially in rural areas, with digital equipment and a range of content such as official books, educational and interactive applications, and access to the Project Gutenberg's Digital Library, which contains 600,000 books," Belhassan Sghaeir, head of the digital schools programme initiated by the donor party, told TAP. He described the digital schools programme as crucial to bridging the digital divide between rural and urban areas, noting that 184 schools across Tunisia have benefited from the programme. Sghaier also said the aim is to create a new dynamic, which would be reinforced by the participation of the schools in the programme in an African competition. Dhia El Hak Sdiri, deputy director of information technologies at the regional education authority in Beja, also stressed that the challenge was to establish a degree of equality in access to knowledge between the country's various educational establishments. This charitable initiative was welcomed with growing enthusiasm by the teachers at Tamissa Primary School, which was founded in 1965 and currently has almost 150 pupils.
