'Burkina Faso is preparing to welcome from August 6 to 10, 2024 a team from the Russian ROSATOM Agency, responsible for supporting the country of Integrity in the construction of its very first nuclear power plant, announced yesterday Friday, the Burkinabe Ministry in charge of Energy. The Burkinabe government is counting on nuclear energy to double its electricity production by 2030. The nuclear power plant project is fully supported by the International Nuclear Energy Agency (IAEA). In January 2024, the Deputy Director and Head of the IAEA Department, Mikhail Chudakov visited Burkina to tout the benefits of nuclear energy, 'clean, green, reliable, less expensive and the price can be predicted at long term,' according to him.
