Ceremony to honour Paralympic athletes [Upd 1]


Tunis: The Tunisian National Paralympic Committee Thursday held a ceremony to honour the Paralympic athletes who distinguished themselves in 2023.

The latter were given the Paralympic insignia in recognition of their performances and to encourage them to achieve further feats.

The ceremony was attended by Transport Minister Rabie Mjidi, the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and France to Tunisia, public media executives, including TAP CEO Najeh Missaoui.

Several International Paralympic Committee officials were also present along with President of the Tunisian Paralympic Committee Mohamed Mzoughi and a number of journalists and representatives of delegations participating in the World Para-Athletics 18th edition Grand Prix Tunis.

A tribute was paid to TAP news agency and the Tunisian Television and Radio corporations in acknowledgement of their role in supporting Paralympic activities.

ns came down on the World Para-Athletics 18th edition Grand Prix Tunis.

The event was a real success and offered the opportunity to promote the sports tourism in Tunisia.

Director General of Sports at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Moncef Cherif told TAP the department is supportive of Paralympic sports given the feats made by Tunisian athletes in international events.

CEO of TAP Najeh Missaoui was awareded the Shield of Honour of the National Paralympic Committee.

TAP, he said, is the media partner of Olympic and Paralympic events in Tunisia. It is a locomotive of public media considering its key role in covering several sports events and the athletic feats in Tunisia. This, added, enhanced confidence in public media.

Missaoui said TAP will keep on supporting Olympic and Paralympic events in the upcoming Paris-2024 Olympics by means of securing coverage of competitions involving Tunisian athletes. He also wished every success to Tunisian athletes.

The athletes are Walid Ktila, Raoua Tlili, Marwa Brah
mi, Soumaya Boussaid, Yassine Guenichi, Rouay Jebabli, Maha Aounallah, Achraf Tiami, Abbad Ben Ayoub, Maher Rahmani and Fethi Zouinkhi.
