Pretoria: The City of Cape Town's Urban Mobility Directorate has informed the public about upcoming temporary lane and full road closures on Racecourse Road in the Lansdowne and Kenwyn areas. These closures are part of ongoing MyCiTi infrastructure developments aimed at expanding public transport options. According to South African Government News Agency, the city has released a statement detailing the scheduled road closures, which are set to take place over the next few months. This includes the single-lane closure of Chukker Road, expected to last from August to December 2025, and closures at the intersections of Stockley and Racecourse Road, as well as Leafmore and Racecourse Road, both slated for August to December 2025. Residents should also be aware of a complete road closure on Crosscut Road from September to December 2025. During this period, Prince Arthur Road will temporarily function as a dual carriageway to facilitate traffic flow between Racecourse Road and Imam Haron Road. Rob Quintas, the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, emphasized the importance of the MyCiTi Phase 2A construction work, acknowledging the inconvenience it might cause. He urged road users to be patient and utilize the detours, highlighting the future benefits of the new public transport service.
