Tunis: A computerised system for managing the flow of imported goods, which will reduce storage time from 14 to three days, is under installation at Tunis-Carthage International Airport, Equipment and Housing Minister in charge of the Transport Department management Sarah Zaafarani Zenzri said. Speaking at a workshop held on Monday on the outcome of the survey on 'Tunisia's logistics vision for 2040: positioning Tunisia as a logistics hub in the Mediterranean,' Zenzri pointed out that the procedures for establishing a land reserve for the creation of a national network of logistics zones involved 14 sites covering an area of around 3,100 hectares. Typographical work and economic studies have already begun in six logistics zones, namely Bir Mchergua, Rades, Zarzis, Bouchama, Gargour and Enfidha, she recalled, accordint to a Ministry of Transport press release on Tuesday. These zones, which cover a total area of 600 hectares, were the subject of two calls for tenders launched on January 16, 2021, for the con struction and operation of two logistics zones in Bouchama (Gabes) and Gargour (Sfax). As part of its logistics vision, Tunisia is endeavouring to make its logistics system more efficient and to develop multimodal transport in order to boost the competitiveness of the national economy and support its role in integrating the national economy into global value chains.
