Council of Regions and Districts: plenary to consider draft rules of procedure begins

Tunis: A plenary of the National Council of Regions and Districts convened to consider and adopt the draft rules of procedure opened on Monday. President of the Council Imed Derbali said this second parliamentary chamber is tasked with upholding the value of justice among citizens and breaking with all forms of marginalisation and exclusion. The council embodies popular democracy under which all segments of society participate in decision-making, he added. July 25 Constitution enhances the council's role. The plenary takes place following the release in the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic, in its June 21, 2024 issue, of the decision of the Council's President that sets out interim provisions on the organisation of debates and vote on the draft rules of procedure.
