Deputy Minister of Basic Education to lead inter-departmental commemoration of Mandela Day in Hazyview, Mpumalanga
Basic Education Deputy Minister Dr Reginah Mhaule, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) Mr Mcebisi Skhwatsha, MEC Busi Shiba for Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs as well as Member of Parliament Mr Desmond Mwela will tomorrow, Tuesday, 18 July 2023 in partnership with the Imbumba Foundation lead the Inter-Departmental Commemoration of International Mandela Day that will take place at Siphumelele Secondary School in Hazyview, Mpumalanga.
Commemorated under the theme ‘’Its in your hands’’, the joint effort between the DBE, Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) as well as the Department of Correctional Services and partners will see Siphumemele Secondary School become the beneficiary. The school is set to receive amongst other upgrades, a new state-of-the-art Greenhouse to replace the modest school garden, utilizing labour by parolees and probationers under the Department of Correctional Services, who are refurbishing desks and painting the school. In addition, the schools NSNP programme will benefit from a kitchen rebuild to ensure that the schools’ young minds continue to be adequately nourished.
