Deputy President to Deliver Virtual Keynote at NEDLAC’s 30th Annual Summit

Johannesburg: Deputy President Paul Mashatile is set to deliver a virtual keynote address at the National Economic Development and Labour Council’s (NEDLAC) 30th Annual Summit on Friday. Taking place at the NH Johannesburg Sandton Hotel in Gauteng, the summit convenes under the theme: ‘Advancing solidarity, equality and sustainability in the economy and the labour market’.

According to South African Government News Agency, the gathering will provide an opportunity for a larger delegation of NEDLAC social partners from organised business, community, government, and organised labour, as well as other stakeholders, to gather and deliberate on socio-economic issues. Aligned with South Africa’s Group of 20 (G20) Presidency focus on solidarity, equality, and sustainability, the summit provides a platform for participants to share achievements and challenges in advancing worker solidarity.

Discussions will highlight progress in collective bargaining, dispute resolution, and efforts to strengthen unity among all workers, including non-standard employees. The joint statement by the Presidency and NEDLAC indicates that the gathering will also advance gender and race equality in the workplace and society and pursue climate sustainability and a just transition from a workplace perspective.
