Tunis: Tunisian filmmaker Dhafer El Abidine is a member of the jury for the Arab Feature Narrative Film Competition at the fifth edition of the Amman International Film Festival - Awal Film (AIFF), to be held in the Jordanian capital Amman from July 3 to 11, 2024. The Arab Feature Film Jury also includes Aida Begic (Bosnian director and academic), Hakim Belabbes (Moroccan director and director of the Institut supérieur des métiers de l'audiovisuel (ISMAC) in Rabat) and Presley Chuenig (South African actor, writer and activist). Dhafer El Abidine is an actor, director, producer and screenwriter who won the FIPRESCI prize in Cairo for his first feature film 'Ghadwa' (Tomorrow), which also took part in the Amman International Film Festival in 2022, according to a biography of the filmmaker published on the festival's website. In 2021, he started his production company Double A Productions and directed his first feature film 'Ghodwa', which he co-wrote, starred in and produced in Tunisia. After its world prem iere at Cairo International Film Festival, 'Ghodwa' scooped the International Federation of Film Critics prize in 2021 and competed at the AIFF in 2022. In 2023, El Abidine directed his second film 'To My Son' which was screened across the Middle East and won best script and best film at the Arab Hollywood film Festival.
