Gqeberha: The acting Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, Major General Thandiswa Kupiso, along with her management and other law enforcement partners, is set to officially launch the 2025/2026 Provincial Safer Festive Season Operations. This event will take place on Friday, 24 October 2025, with the goal of declaring the state of readiness for the upcoming festive season and demonstrating integration with various stakeholders to combat and prevent serious and violent crimes. The focus will be on priority areas such as gender-based violence and femicide, armed robberies, cross-border crime, illicit economic activities, and crimes against wildlife and endangered species. According to South African Police Service, Major General Kupiso will also be handing over brand-new vehicles to enhance operational capacity and increase visibility during the festive season and beyond. These initiatives will be conducted alongside Operation Shanela. Members of the media have been invited to attend and cover the laun ch, highlighting the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in ensuring a safer festive period for the community.
