El Mouhit vessel, the latest purchase by La Société Nouvelle de Transport de Kerkennah, set sail Sunday on its maiden voyage from Sfax to Kerkennah. The ship, 100m long and 18m wide, has a passenger capacity of 900 people and can transport up to 210 cars. The TND 27 million vessel is the largest in the company's fleet - a total of seven- said CEO of SONOTRAK Kaïs Jbel. The ship meets comfort and security standards, he further said. EL Mouhit comes to beef up the fleet. The vessel, which departed from Greece, docked last December 8 at the commercial port of Sfax-Sidi Youssef. Minister of Transport Rabii Majidi said at a delivery ceremony the aquisition of this seventh vessel is part of efforts to achieve the strategic objectives of the company, mainly beefing up the fleet, giving a boost to activity and upgrading infrastructure and services.
