Electoral Commission Conducts Audit of Election Results System

Pretoria:The Electoral Commission has completed an independent and external audit of the Election Results System as part of its measures to ensure transparency, credibility, and confidence in the electoral process.

According to South African Government News Agency, The Results System, used for capturing and collating results and assigning seats to contestants, was made available to political parties and contestants for auditing its integrity, functionality, security, and reliability. The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), African National Congress (ANC), Democratic Alliance (DA), and uMkhonto we Sizwe Party (MKP) have designated their ICT experts to review the system.

The audit exercise began on Monday, 05 October, and is scheduled to conclude on 12 October 2026. Interested parties had a deadline of 30 September 2026 to indicate their participation and submit their experts' names. The Commission emphasized its commitment to administering the 2026 Local Government Elections in a manner that is credible, transparent, inclusive, and compliant with the law.
