Limpopo: The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic), in partnership with the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, along with other government agencies, will host a three-day Breaking Barriers Business and Talent Expo in Limpopo starting Wednesday. The event will take place at the Thohoyandou Indoor Sports Centre under the theme ‘Showcasing Ability Beyond Disability’.
According to South African Government News Agency, the event will gather individuals with disabilities, disability-owned enterprises, youth and women entrepreneurs, informal traders, learners from special schools, government representatives, private sector partners, development agencies, and potential investors. The dtic and its partners aim to ensure full inclusion of people with disabilities in the mainstream economy, enabling them to contribute significantly to economic development.
The department emphasized that the expo will provide an inclusive platform to showcase business, talent, and innovation while supporting enterprise recovery and growth. Its primary objectives include promoting inclusive economic participation, facilitating access to funding, skills development, mentorship, and markets, supporting flood-affected businesses, encouraging partnerships, and fostering sustainable entrepreneurship and job creation.
The Breaking Barriers Business and Talent Expo 2026 is spearheaded by the See the Light Foundation, which focuses on empowering persons with disabilities and supporting small businesses impacted by climate-related disasters such as floods.
