During a ceremony held, Saturday, in Tunis, the «FIDA» Foundation paid tribute to the families of the martyrs killed in the Battle of Ben Guerdane, widely known as «the Epic of Ben Guerdane". On March 7, 2016, Ben Guerdane, which is located 32 kilometers from the Tunisian-Libyan borders, was under a terror attack. A large number of terrorists targeted the military barracks as well as two security and National Guard districts in Ben Guerdane. Heavy clashes took place between security forces and these terrorists leaving 50 dead among the assailants and 22 among the security and military personnel. 7 civilians were also killed during this terror attack. President of «FIDA» foundation, Ahmed JaSfer, pointed out that «by commemorating this battle, we are trying to send a strong message to the obscurantist forces and highlight the sacrifices of the armed forces.» During the ceremony, families of the martyrs received honours. JaSfer assured that financial assistance will be delivered to the families of the ma rtyrs. He said 21 families of martyrs of terrorist operations, from the military institution, received during a ceremony held on Wednesday in Tunis, electronic cards relating to scholarships of their children. Created under Decree No. 20 of April 9, 2022, the FIDA Foundation seeks to provide support to the families of the martyrs and wounded of the Revolution as well as terrorist acts.
