Former Brazil head coach Tite was sacked by Flamengo on Monday after less than a year in charge of the Brazilian Serie A club. The 63-year-old will be replaced by former Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Flamengo defender Filipe Luis until the end of the year, the Rio de Janeiro side said in a statement. The announcement came less than a day after Flamengo's 1-0 home win over Athletico Paranaense in Brazil's Serie A championship. Last Thursday, Flamengo were eliminated from the Copa Libertadores - South America's top club competition - by Uruguay's Penarol in the quarterfinal stage. Flamengo are currently fourth in the 20-team Brazilian Serie A standings, nine points behind leaders Botafogo with 10 games remaining in the season. Tite, who was Brazil's manager from 2016 to 2022, guided Flamengo to 41 victories, 13 draws and 16 defeats following his appointment in October last year. Filipe's first match in charge will be the Copa do Brasil semifinal first leg against Corinthians at the Maracana stadium on Wedn esday. Source: The Namibia News Agency
