Four Provincial Commissioners to Be Announced This Week

Johannesburg: The Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, is set to announce the appointment of new Provincial Commissioners in the Western Cape, North West, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga provinces this week.

According to South African Government News Agency, these announcements will be made in collaboration with the respective Premiers and Members of the Executive Councils (MECs) responsible for Community Safety and liaison. The appointments are part of efforts to enhance leadership within the SAPS, aligning with the organisational renewal programme and the SAPS Reset Agenda. The initiative aims to promote professional, ethical, accountable, and effective policing.

The schedule for the announcements is as follows: Western Cape on Wednesday, North West on Thursday, and both Limpopo and Mpumalanga on Friday. This comes in the wake of Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia's announcement of the Police Reset Agenda, which identifies 140 high-crime police station precincts as priority sites for intervention. The agenda seeks to restore public confidence in the SAPS as part of a broader national effort.
