Tunis: A collection of artefacts was recovered from France last week, the Ministry of Culture announced on Tuesday. Tunisia recovered the artefacts in coordination between the Ministry of Culture, represented by the National Heritage Institute (INP), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad. The recovered artifacts include a crown composed of limestone which dates back to the third century, mast bases, stones from a limestone catapult from the Roman period, three firearms (kohl) from the 19th century and a leather cartridge belt from the 20th century. The objects were handed over to Tunisia by the family of a former French soldier who served in Tunisia between 1954 and 1959. According to the ministry, the return was the result of cooperation between one of his sons, the Tunisian embassy in France and the consulate general in Paris. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
