A Grootfontein businessman allegedly committed suicide Wednesday evening by shooting himself at his lodge situated outside the town. According to the Namibian Police Force's (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the incident occurred around 18h00 at the lodge situated on his commercial farm, approximately five kilometres north of Grootfontein. The deceased was identified by family members as the 69-year-old Felas van der Merwe Daniel Diederick, said Mbeha. 'It is alleged that the deceased committed suicide by shooting himself in his bedroom with a revolver,' Mbeha stated. He was discovered by his wife on her arrival from town.
