Makkah: The Holy Makkah Municipality conducted its third workshop of the year for the food and catering services sector in Makkah ahead of the Hajj season on Wednesday.

The Municipality said that caterers were briefed on the regulations and standards, as well as significant violations and observations identified through intensive inspection tours of the concerned food kitchens. The workshop focused on how to rectify and avoid these issues.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the Ministry of Health, and Umm Al-Qura University participated in the workshop. They presented papers on food quality, safety, and sources of food materials, caterers’ self-regulation, the challenges they face, and the efforts required to ensure the success of this year’s Hajj season.
