Tunis: Hundreds of students on Monday demonstrated at Tunisian universities and in the streets of the capital in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank against the Israeli occupation, following a call by the two main student unions, the General Union of Students of Tunisia (UGET) and the General Union of Tunisian Students (UGTE). Dozens of students gathered in front of the French embassy and the capital's municipal theatre, calling for the unity of students in support of the Palestinians and the resistance in Gaza against the genocidal war committed by the Zionist army, thereby joining the worldwide pro-Palestinian student movement, notably in the United States, which is calling for a definitive end to the war in Gaza and the liberation of the Palestinian territories from occupation. Those gathered on the Habib Bourguiba Avenue called for the enactment of a "law criminalising normalisation with the Zionist entity," waving the Palestinian and Tunisian flags while denouncing the support of the American and French governments for Israel. Tunisian students staged sit-ins in solidarity with the Palestinian people at a number of faculties and higher institutes, including the Institute of Press and Information Sciences (IPSI) and the Faculté de 9 avril in Tunis.
