International Literacy Day: National literacy and adult education strategy reviewed (Social Affairs Minister)


Social Affairs Minister Malek Ezzahi, Friday, said on the International Literacy Day which falls on September 8 each year, that his department had reviewed and updated the Startegy of National Literacy and Adult Education, before submitting it to the Prime Ministry for adoption.
During a ceremony held in Tunis, Ezzahi added that his department took all necessary measures to promote different methods for acquiring literacy and adult education in Tunisia, including the new «Lifelong Adult Literacy and Education» strategy destined to school dropouts.
“These measures also focus on strengthening partnership with various stakeholders from the public and private sectors, the civil society as well as the German Confederation for Adult Education,” he pointed out.
Ezzahi added that his department sorted out the professional situation of nearly 1,018 teachers in the social field, underlining that the illiteracy rate decreased in Tunisia.
