International Street Circus Festival to be held in ten cities across Tunisia from June 11 to 25

Artists from 12 countries will participate in the 6th edition of the International Street Circus Festival scheduled from June 11 to 25, in ten cities of the country.

In a press briefing held at the City of Culture in Tunis Friday, the organising committee gave an overview of the programme of this edition which will start on June 11 in La Marsa, in the northern suburbs of Tunis. The closing show will take place on June 25, at the archaeological site of the Water Temple in Zaghouan.

The other scheduled dates will be shared out between Ben Arous (June 12), Siliana (June 14), Kerkennah (June 16), Mahdia (June 17) and Sousse (June 18). The shows will resume on June 21 in the capital with a performance at the Ariana, before starting a new journey in the regions of Kef (June 22) and Bizerte (June 24).

In addition to Tunisian bands, the organisers announced the participation of bands from Mauritania, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Chile and Peru.

This annual event is organised by the Paparouni Association, in partnership with the Cultural Affairs Ministry, the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts and the local delegations of Cultural Affairs.

Created in 2018, the International Street Circus Festival seeks to disseminate circus arts to the Tunisian public and in the Arab region. More particularly, it promotes a new circus that breaks with the traditional image of an arena with acrobats, tamers and jugglers.
