IOM-Tunisia and Czech Republic ink agreement to enhance protection of vulnerable migrants in Tunisia

Tunis: An agreement was signed on Monday between the International Organisation for Migration in Tunisia (IOM) and the Czech Republic to enhance the protection of vulnerable migrants in Tunisia and to encourage opportunities for voluntary return to the countries of origin, according to an IOM press release. IOM-Tunisia stated that the agreement aims to support migrants and provide them with support and protection, including opportunities for voluntary return and reintegration in their countries of origin. IOM is working with the Tunisian government to ensure the voluntary return of irregular migrants in Tunisia. The organisation organised in January humanitarian return flights for 392 migrants to their countries of origin and for 161 migrants from Tunisia to Gambia in May 2024.
